  • CRAFTING IMPECCABLE FORMAL LETTERS!
In our C1 course, we tend to wrap up every single unit with a nice piece of well-structured writing.  In some cases, this final assignment will be devoted to writing a formal cover letter. There are a lot of websites where you can learn how to write an appropriate one. You can surf the web for your own ideas or use the ones here to improve your version. Also, try the exercise here to keep up the hard work and do not forget to end the letter properly!

Formal letters of interest are also a great way to get your foot in the door of a company or organization you would like to work with or volunteer for. Click here to learn more about how to write one and prepare your draft versions!
  • MASTERING THE ART OF CRITIQUE: A GUIDE TO FORMULATING COMPELLING REVIEWS.

As the video above explains, the purpose of a review is to give your personal opinion about a book, magazine, play or concert, calling for an evaluation for a particular audience. You may listen to some people talking about their attitudes to film reviews here, for further practice.

Now that you have had enough, head for the last task in this section by studying this sample task, which aims to explain how help you write an engaging review.
  • DEMYSTIFYING DATA REPORTING: A GUIDE TO CRAFTING INSIGHTFUL REPORTS
https://yougov.co.uk/topics/politics/articles-reports/2017/03/07/how-left-or-right-wing-are-uks-newspapersMost of you have asked me how to write an effective report based on some data. I know you are worried about it because the exam in June will look exactly like that: a graph, an infographic or a chart that you will have to interpret, explain and conclude from. Click on the image on the right and find a great sample of how to explain and write about graphics. As you will see, reports are not the only type of writing to do just that. Underline key expressions, figures, percentages and useful language and add them to you top-list of "interpreting statistics" vocabulary. Once you are ready, you can try and write a similar ARTICLE. You may find a task sample here!

Think twice when it comes to register and style. Always avoid sloppy language and tend to sophisticate your words and expressions:

Here is a presentation that tackles the most relevant aspects you have to consider when writing a report essay: a wide array of linking words, opening and closing remarks, together with the key to success! Also, check the links below and remember that practice makes perfect!
